Desktop Engineering Rebrands to Digital Engineering

(Framingham, MA) August 17, 2016 – Peerless Media announced today that its flagship engineering title, Desktop Engineering, will change its name to Digital Engineering, effective with the newly redesigned September issue.

The name change caps off a year of celebrating the brand’s 20th anniversary. Launched in September of 1995, Desktop Engineering was created to inform design engineering teams how to optimize the use of new technologies. At the time, the ability to use desktop computers for serious engineering work revolutionized the industry. The magazine’s mission of connecting engineering teams with the technology they need to optimize their designs has not changed, but the technologies have.

Digital Engineering better reflects the current technologies converging to optimize design engineering,” says DE Publisher Tom Cooney. “Over the years, Desktop Engineering expanded its coverage of simulation-led design, 3D printing, sensors, product lifecycle management, high-performance computing and the Internet of Things as those technologies have become more central to the product development cycle.”

Up-front engineering teams face enormous pressures to integrate electronics, software and connectivity into product designs to meet market demands. Even though their jobs are more complex than ever, product design cycles continue to contract in order for businesses to keep pace with global competition. To satisfy the opposing demands of more design innovation in less time, upfront engineering teams rely on the technologies and processes covered in Digital Engineering.

“We are now at a point where complexity and connectivity have made collaboration critical to product design and engineering,” notes Jamie Gooch, DE’s editorial director. “The desktop is still part of engineering, but it’s the digital thread—the flow of data back and forth throughout the design cycle and product lifecycle—that drives engineering technology today.”

Many of the writers and editors responsible for launching Desktop Engineering in 1995 are still contributing to the magazine, bringing decades of experience to help our audience understand how to use the latest technologies and techniques to optimize engineering design. In addition, new columnists and contributors have been added to bring a fresh perspective to DE’s coverage.

“We will remain true to our unique focus on upfront design engineering teams in our magazine, websites, newsletters, blogs, webcasts, videos and research reports,” Cooney says. “We’ll still be DE, but now our name will match our mission.”

Peerless Media Announces “Peerless Cares” Ad Campaign

(Framingham) – Peerless Media announced today that the company will launch an ad campaign entitled “Peerless Cares” in the print brands Supply Chain Management Review, Logistics Management, Modern Materials Management, Material Handling Product News and Desktop Engineering. The intent of the campaign is to show the company’s support for the cancer organization, The Beauty Foundation for Cancer Care.

The Beauty Foundation for Cancer Care is a nationwide, 501(c)(3) charity that raises money for families that are dealing with cancer. Their mission is to alleviate the overwhelming financial and emotional strains that cancer treatment places on families. The organization helps pay the bills that aren’t covered by insurance, such as household expenses, transportation to treatment, wigs, child care, etc. This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Beauty Foundation, which in that time has provided over $1M in grants.

The Beauty Foundation also supports these families emotionally with programs such as Adopt-A-Family, which provides holiday presents for families who can’t afford them or if the parent is too sick to shop for them, Basket Brigade, which provides a full Thanksgiving meal for hundreds of families each year for the same reasons, and PROM, an annual dance held at Robert Wood Johnson hospital for the teens on the oncology/hematology floor who aren’t able to attend their own school dances.

Peerless Media has been a financial supporter of the organization since the company’s launch in 2010. “The Beauty Foundation has made a difference in the lives of so many families going through an immensely difficult time”, said Brian Ceraolo, President of Peerless Media. “We’re proud to support an organization that is 100% volunteer so that every dollar goes to helping people who really need it.”

Logistics Management Announces 2015 Quest for Quality Winners

Logistics Management is pleased to announce the 2015 Quest for Quality Award winners.

The Quest for Quality Awards are the gold standard for customer satisfaction and performance excellence for carriers, ports, and logistics providers worldwide.

Logistics Management’s Annual Quest for Quality Awards is the culmination of a six-month research project conducted by Peerless Research Group (PRG).  For more than three decades, LM’s Quest for Quality has been regarded in the transportation and logistics industry as the most important measure of customer satisfaction and performance excellence.

“What makes the Quest for Quality Awards stand out in the market is the fact that the winners are determined by the readers of Logistics Management-the buyers of logistics and transportation services who put these carriers and service providers to work around the clock and around globe,” said Michael Levans, Group Editorial Director of Peerless Media, LLC., the publisher of Logistics Management.

“The growth of e-commerce and the subsequent evolution of omni-channel fulfillment has changed the game for both retailers and manufacturers, shortening lead times across the board,” said Levans. “According to the readers of Logistics Management, the list of carriers and service providers receiving a Quest for Quality Award this year have been equal to the task, matching their ever-demanding service needs and helping them keep pace with the new speed of global business.”

About the Quest for Quality Awards

To determine the best of the best, LM readers-logistics, transportation, and supply chain decision makers-rate carriers, third-party logistics (3PL) service providers, and now U.S. port operators strictly on the basis of service quality. One of the most notable elements about the Quest for Quality is that it allows these shippers to vote in the genre of services they actually use and fully understand; in turn, they can vote for the providers that they feel have best delivered on quality service in specific niches.

This year, Logistics Management had 4649 logistics and supply chain decision makers place their vote. This six-month research undertaking results in nine lists featuring 125 transportation and logistics services provider organizations that have gone for the gold and have achieved their mission of being designated “best of the best” by the readers of LM.

You can find the full list of winners from each Quest for Quality category in the August issue of Logistics Management and online here.
